Markdown and TXT compared
| Markdown | TXT | |
|---|---|---|
| Full name | Markdown | Plain Text |
| Extension | .md, .markdown | .txt |
| MIME type | text/markdown | text/plain |
Markdown: Plain text that reads as text and renders as formatted output. The default for READMEs, documentation and static sites, because it stays diffable in version control.
TXT: No formatting, no metadata, no ambiguity. Useful as a destination when you want the words and nothing else, and as a source when a system refuses anything richer.
