This runs entirely in your browser. The file never leaves your machine and nothing is uploaded. Need test files? Try our free sample files.

This free WebP to BMP converter turns your .webp images into .bmp files. WebP is what most image pipelines now output. Browsers handle it everywhere, but plenty of desktop software, print workflows and older systems still do not.

Because browsers cannot write BMP, this one runs on our server: the file is converted in memory and sent straight back. It is never written to disk, never logged and never stored.

How to convert WebP to BMP

  1. Drop your WebP files onto the box above, or click it to choose from your computer. Up to 20 at once.
  2. The conversion starts as soon as the file is read — there is nothing to configure.
  3. Download each converted file, or pick them up one by one from the list.

What changes when you convert WebP to BMP

BMP has no transparency. Anything transparent in your WebP is composited onto a white background, which is the usual expectation but worth knowing if your image was designed to sit on a colour.

BMP is lossless, but it cannot restore what WebP already discarded. The output will be larger than the input and no sharper — you are preserving the current state, not recovering the original.

CompressionLossyLossless
TransparencyYesNo

WebP: Google's web format: roughly 25 to 35 percent smaller than JPG at comparable quality, with transparency and animation. Supported by every current browser.

BMP: Uncompressed raw pixels, which makes the files enormous and the format trivial to parse. Mostly encountered coming out of legacy Windows software and scanners.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert WebP to BMP?

Drop your .webp file onto the box on this page and the .bmp file is ready to download in a second or two. There is no signup, no email, no watermark and no file limit beyond about 4 MB per upload — larger images are re-encoded smaller in your browser first, and the page says so when that happens.

Is this WebP to BMP converter free?

Yes, completely, with no account, no trial and no watermark on the output. We are a consultancy and these tools exist because we needed them ourselves; there is nothing to buy on this page.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

This one has to run on our server, because browsers cannot write BMP. The file is converted in memory and returned immediately — it is never written to disk, never logged and never stored. If that is not acceptable for your file, use a desktop tool instead.

Will converting to BMP reduce the quality?

BMP has no transparency. Anything transparent in your WebP is composited onto a white background, which is the usual expectation but worth knowing if your image was designed to sit on a colour.

Can I convert several WebP files at once?

Yes, up to 20 files in one go. Drop them all onto the box together and each one appears in the results list with its own download button.
